At least one person was killed and eight others were injured, including two children aged two and thirteen, in a shooting in the Georgia state city of Savannah, local authorities said.
The shooting occurred shortly before 9 p.m. on Friday, when officers responded to notices of a shooting at the Fred Wessels Homes housing estate.
Savannah Police Department spokeswoman Bianca Johnson said when officers arrived at the scene they found “multiple victims,” Fox 28 reported.
We have a total of nine victims with gunshot wounds, of which one adult has died,” said Johnson, who said that among the wounded are two children aged two and thirteen, who are not in serious condition.
Authorities have not provided further information so far and have not said whether any suspects were in custody.
Just hours after the Savannah shooting, at least 13 people were injured in a mass shooting in a crowded entertainment district in downtown Austin, Texas police announced early Saturday.
No one was killed, but two people are in critical condition, interim Austin Police Chief Joseph Chacon told reporters near the scene.
